The Colors of Mro Festival
The Mro people are an indigenous group in the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. They have their own language, culture, and traditions. They are also called the Sons of the Hill. Recently, they have been displaced from their environment due to political, social, and economic issues in the Hill Tracts. As a protest against this negative impact, they use their plung (a kind of bamboo flute) as a symbol in cultural rallies. They believe that the sounds of the plung will protect them from negative energy and restore their goodwill.
